President congratulates people of Uzbekistan on Ramadan Hayit
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely, wholeheartedly congratulated the Muslims of Uzbekistan, all people with Ramadan Hayit.
On this blessed day, we all thank the Almighty for these bright days, when such wonderful spiritual qualities as kindness, mercy and humanism are manifested especially vividly, - said the President.
Together with our families and people, as we celebrate this wonderful holiday, we strive to further strengthen the atmosphere of mutual understanding and harmony in society, show care and attention to the elderly, women and children, provide assistance to those who need it, noted the Head of the state.
It should be noted that these noble aspirations are consonant with meaning and content of reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to enter into a number of developed countries of the world, ensure a decent life for people.
From this point of view, preserving the national identity, spiritual values, ancient history and rich culture, studying them deeply and popularizing widely remains as an urgent task for us.
As it is known, in recent years, Uzbekistan is implementing large-scale activities in this direction, in particular, new scientific, cultural and religious educational institutions are being established, worship places are being improved.
Uzbekistan’s initiatives, forwarded on the basis of the principle of “Enlightenment against ignorance” and calling for preservation of peace and tranquility, freedom of conscience, interreligious tolerance, bringing to the world community the humanistic essence of Islam are widely supported by the international community.
On this bright holiday, the President also sincerely congratulated people of the Muslim countries of the near and far abroad, all friends and partners, wished them peace, prosperity and progress.
“Invest in Namangan” International Investment Forum
Namangan is hosting “Invest in Namangan” international forum
On June 7, 2019, “Invest in Namangan” International Investment Forum and the exhibition of manufacturers in Namangan region will kick off in Namangan city. It is organized by the Khokimiyat of Namangan region together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies of Uzbekistan.
Over 300 representatives of foreign companies from almost 40 countries, in particular India, Turkey, China, Russia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France and others, accompanied by 18 ambassadors of Uzbekistan assigned to Namangan region, are expected to attend the forum.
In addition, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan and correspondents of foreign media will take part in the forum.
Investment agreements and contracts worth more than 300 million USD are expected to be signed at the forum.
The opening ceremony of the forum will be held in Shodiyona complex. Pakhlavon complex will host an exhibition of manufacturers of Namangan region, B2B and B2G meetings.
Foreign businesspeople represent such leading companies as Hyundai, Evergreen International, Bin Hamoodah Group, Phoenix Global DMCC, Ramada, Schneider Electrics, Daewon Wool Textile, SUEZ, Deutsche Bank, SixClouds Pte. Ltd., CTC Holding, Alles Saglik Group and others.
According to the Organizing Committee, foreign participants of the business forum have already started arriving in Namangan.
On the eve of the forum, the Khokimiyat of Namangan region together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time in the region developed and launched a unique portal for supporting exporters “madeinnamangan.uz” containing a catalog of Uzbekistan manufacturers.
On June 7, 2019, “Invest in Namangan” International Investment Forum kicked off in Namangan.
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Khokim of Namangan region Khayrullo Bozorov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilkhom Nematov, First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Alisher Abdualiyev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adkham Ikramov and others addressed the official opening ceremony of the forum, which was attended by over 500 representatives of official and business circles.
The forum participants were presented the socio-economic development and investment potential of Namangan region.
The most successful entrepreneurs of the region spoke about the possibility of doing business in the region.
The forum continues its work in breakout sessions.

Meeting with the Ambassador of Qatar
On June 7, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar with the residence in Tehran Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri.
After accepting credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of his activities in Uzbekistan and wished him fruitful work to strengthen bilateral relations.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed promising areas for development of Uzbekistan – Qatar relations, noting the significant potential for this in trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian and other areas.
The parties spoke for conducting the first meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in the second half of the year.
Some regional and international issues were also discussed at the meeting.

Meeting of the heads of border services of competent authorities of the SCO member states
On June 6, Tashkent hosted the seventh meeting of the heads of border services of the competent authorities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.
The event, chaired by the Russian Federation, was attended by representatives of border services of competent authorities of the Republic of India, Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of the CIS member states and the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. Participants exchanged information on the situation on the state borders of the SCO member states.
Results of the joint border operation of competent authorities of the SCO member states “Unity 2018”, held in 2018, were highly appreciated.
Preparation plan and conduction of the first stage of the joint border operation of border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states in 2019 “Solidarity 2019-2021” was considered and approved.
Organizer of the second stage of the joint border operation of the border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states “Solidarity 2019-2021” for 2020 has been determined.
The work plan of the group of experts of the border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states for 2020 has been approved.
Place and dates of the eighth meeting of the heads of border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states were discussed and agreed.
Participants noted that the professional exchange of views and development of common positions on the issues of countering new challenges and threats on borders of the Organization will contribute to development of cooperation between the border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states.
The meeting was held in a business and constructive atmosphere.
Moscow Energy Institute branch in Tashkent to receive first batch of students for academic year 2019/2020
A branch of the Moscow Energy Institute (MEI) will be opened this year in Tashkent. The corresponding resolution was signed on June 4 by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The main activities of the branch are:
- training of highly qualified engineering-technical personnel for the energy industry of the country;
- development and implementation of modern educational programs and forms of education, introduction of advanced pedagogical and information technologies, the latest achievements of science and technology in the educational process, support for the development of teaching-pedagogical potential;
- carrying out fundamental, applied scientific and innovative research in the field of energy, electrical engineering, heat engineering, improving the efficiency of operation of electrical equipment and systems, developing and implementing innovative projects aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of electric power systems;
- improving the system of training specialists and scientific-pedagogical personnel by improving the quality, continuity of education and science, targeted integration into the world educational and scientific community, creating conditions for the close integration of educational, research and production-industrial activities;
- development and strengthening of long-term relations with leading educational institutions, research centers of foreign countries in the educational and scientific-technical spheres.
According to the resolution, the branch is a separate structural unit of the university - the highest educational institution. It provides training, retraining and advanced training for specialists at all levels, including the training of scientific-pedagogical personnel, on the agreed basic directions of undergraduate education (graduate programs), taking into account the need for personnel;
Training in it will be carried out in Russian, and later in other languages in accordance with federal educational standards of the Russian Federation on the basis of curricula and educational programs approved by the University in coordination with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uzbekistan is appointed in the UK
Founder and Director of Maximum Exposure consulting firm Sophie Ibbotson was presented a certificate of appointment the Ambassador of Uzbekistan’s tourism brand in the UK, at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London.
Sophie Ibbotson is one of the active and productive foreign specialists promoting information about Uzbekistan, the history, culture and traditions of Uzbek people in foreign media and social networks. She has been working with Uzbekistan for more than 10 years. With her support, Uzbekistan has won a number of prestigious awards of specialized British media in tourism.
Expressing gratitude to the Uzbek side for high confidence, Sophie Ibbotson noted that as the Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uzbekistan, she would make even more efforts to popularize the tourism potential of the country.
Noting the importance of expanding the geography of travels, Sophie Ibbotson informed that this year she plans to organize press tours to Uzbekistan regions, in particular to Navoi and Kashkadarya regions. In her opinion, these regions have tremendous opportunities, and with skillful marketing and advertising, it is possible to significantly increase the influx of foreign visitors.
