Uzbekistan, Familiar and Mysterious. From the perspective of Russian cinematography

The Russia-Culture TV channel began filming a 4-part documentary film about Uzbekistan. It was discussed at the presentation of the forthcoming picture, held in Tashkent.

Russian television documentaries in partnership with the National Association of Electronic Media of Uzbekistan and the State Committee for the Development of Tourism in our country will shoot a cycle of four documentaries called “Uzbekistan. Love Legends”.

The film will tell about the history of our ancient land, the Great Silk Road, civilizations that existed in Uzbekistan, the tolerance of our country, where representatives of more than 130 ethnicities live in peace and friendship, about the national Uzbek art, science, architecture, gastronomic specialties and culinary traditions. It is expected that the films will cover the main aspects of the cultural and historical development of Uzbekistan from antiquity to modernity.

“We would like to tell the Russian audience about Uzbekistan through the prism of our ancient folk legends about love – love for their land, love for art and science, love for great commanders, warriors, grand stories about human feelings, without which the Uzbek people would not have created such beautiful architecture , poetry, music. Without that, there would be no such thing as the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan,” said the author and general producer of the documentary series, the Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov.

Of course, the legends of love will be incomplete without stories about the love of a woman. The filmmakers intend to familiarize themselves in more detail on the spot with ancient legends, such as, for example, Tahir and Zuhra, which is not inferior to Shakespeare’s famous Romeo and Juliet tragedy in terms of emotional impact, as well as recall the story of Alexander the Great’s love for Roxana emerged after the conquest of the territory of Central Asia by the great commander and the capture of the girl. Alexander married this beauty, there were political motives in it, since she was the daughter of the local Sogdian ruler. But the authors of the film are sure that this event was undoubtedly “guilty” and love. They also plan to talk about this in their film.

Leading architects, historians, heads of confessions, local historians, scientists and cultural figures, famous chefs of Uzbekistan will take part in the creation of documentary films.

As the scriptwriter of the documentary Tatiana Basova emphasized, “the cooperation of the Russia-Culture TV channel and NAESMI started with the film Uzbekistan. The acquired revelations”, which was released a little over a year ago. The film was the first in 25 years, a tape about Uzbekistan, created on our channel. I note that it was the view of the Russians and their vision of the new Uzbekistan in the realities of the twenty-first century. The film had a high rating and aroused great interest among our viewers. That is why we decided to continue this work.”

To date, this is the fifth project of NAESMI together with Russian TV channels. Previously, the films “Uzbekistan, the Pearl of Sands”, “Karakalpakstan through the Sands of Time”, “Uzbekistan. Discovered Revelations”, “Nukus. Unknown collection”.

Filming of this unique film is scheduled for completion in the spring of next year. His script has not yet been written; it will be created in stages, since the authors of the documentary film want to learn more about Uzbekistan and only then reflect everything in the film.
