Shavkat Mirziyoyev departs for Dushanbe

On September 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tajikistan to attend the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

As previously reported, the agenda of the summit includes a wide range of issues related to the current state and prospects for further development of multilateral cooperation in various fields.

The Heads of States will also consider issues of chairmanship in the Commonwealth in 2019, the venue and date of the next meeting of the CHS CIS, exchange views on the current regional and international issues.

The program of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan also includes a number of bilateral meetings in the city of Dushanbe.

El-Yurt Umidi Foundation to train specialists abroad

Uzbekistan created El-Yurt Umidi Foundation under the Cabinet of Minister of Uzbekistan, which will direct its efforts to train specialists abroad, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov said.

The Foundation was created through the transformation of the Center for Training of Specialists Abroad and Dialogue with Compatriots under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is the successor of the Foundation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "Istedod" to organize further training, internships and training of fellows abroad.

The Foundation’s main objectives are:

  • establishment of relations with compatriots who have valuable scientific and practical experience, working in prestigious foreign research, educational and medical institutions, promising sectors of the economy, especially in the production and application of innovative technologies;
  • creation and maintenance of an electronic register (database) of compatriots with valuable scientific and practical experience, cataloged by countries of the world and specialties, with the possibility of access and online search by the personnel services of state bodies;
  • development of proposals and implementation of measures to attract foreign scientists, teachers, engineers and other specialists, including compatriots, to education, health, economy and public administration, especially in new, promising sectors, creating favorable conditions for them, solving pressing problems , ensuring effective use of their potential;
  • formation of a positive image of Uzbekistan among compatriots working in the fields of education, health and economy, collecting, summarizing and bringing to their respective organizations their ideas and opinions on the development of economic and social sectors in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as creating an effective system for the preparation and dissemination of collected materials;
  • active use of the potential of compatriots in the formation and support of a positive image of Uzbekistan abroad, as well as in the consistent establishment of ties and the development of cooperation with prestigious educational and scientific centers of the developed countries of the world, international organizations;
  • selection and organization of training programs for masters and doctoral studies, as well as training and internships for prospective specialists in the fields of education, health, economics and public administration, including teachers and researchers in leading educational and scientific institutions in developed countries;
  • monitoring the training of prospective specialists in prestigious foreign educational and scientific institutions, assisting them with decent employment in Uzbekistan, monitoring the work of these professionals, promoting their professional and career growth;
  • preparation and wide circulation of journals, scientific collections with analytical materials, both domestic and foreign experts, including compatriots, regarding the progress of socio-political and socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan;
  • monitoring of the state of affairs in state bodies and other organizations and elaborating proposals for improving the system of training personnel abroad and attracting foreign specialists;
  • establishment of ties and attraction of international organizations, state structures of foreign countries and non-governmental organizations to the implementation of projects on cooperation and development in the spheres of education, health, economy and public administration.

Scholars who have studied abroad with the financial assistance of the Foundation will have to work for a period defined in the contract concluded with the grantor in a higher educational or scientific institution, as well as in ministries, departments and other state organizations

IT specialists discuss digital development of Uzbekistan

Within the framework of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2018, Uzexpocentre hosted Digital Uzbekistan forum.

Opening the event, Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Sh.Sadikov informed about main directions of ICT development, implemented measures on expanding and increasing bandwidth of telecommunication networks in the regions of the country, as well as on the need for digital transformation.

Speakers presented the experience of their countries and companies in digital transformation, introduction of automated systems and the development of “e-government” system.

One of the panel discussions of the forum was devoted to digital transformation in the financial sector. Specialists from different countries presented reports on trends and prospects of digital transformation of the economy, the banking sector, instant payments, online payments for public services, cloud solutions and advanced technologies in the area of financial sector transformation.

Thus, the forum has become a unique expert platform for discussing current trends in development of information technology and communications, the exchange of experience between domestic specialists and their foreign counterparts.

Uzbekistan – India: dialogue of cultures

Within the framework of the media event organized in India, the National Electronic Media Association and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in this country with sponsorship of Eriell company organized events dedicated to cultural-enlightenment relations of the two countries.

“Uzbekistan – India: dialogue of cultures” exhibition has been opened at the National Museum of India on September 25, which aroused great interest among local community.

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Safayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to India F.Arziyev, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of India A.Goel, Director General of the National Museum of India B.Mani and others noted that the upcoming state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India will open great prospects for bringing multifaceted bilateral cooperation to a new level. Confidence was expressed that the joint exhibition will serve to form even wider and deeper understanding of rich cultural heritage of Uzbekistan people.

A documentary film about large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of the country, conditions for fruitful cooperation in many areas, including, cultural-humanitarian sphere was presented at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Prospects for development of bilateral cultural-enlightenment ties were discussed at the official reception ceremony held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India. Representatives of official and academic circles of the two countries focused on joint study of unique documents stored in museums and related to cooperation between Uzbekistan and India.

At the scientific workshop on “Cultural heritage is a bridge of Uzbekistan – India dialogue”, well-known scientists of the two countries discussed issues of further developing cooperation, prospects for implementation of new projects and intensification of scientific-enlightenment exchanges.

Activities within the framework of the media event were also held at Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru Universities in Delhi, at India Islamic Cultural Centre.
