On telephone conversation of the President of Uzbekistan with the President of Turkmenistan
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Head of the state cordially congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, prosperity and success.
It was emphasized that high achievements of modern Turkmenistan and consistent increase in its international authority are the practical results of large-scale reforms and transformations under the leadership of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a policy of positive neutrality.
International initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring security and stability in the Central Asian region, development of transport corridors and energy infrastructure, in the field of rational water use, popularization of sports and other areas have been highly appreciated.
It was noted with deep satisfaction that regular contacts and meetings at the highest level contribute to strengthening the centuries-old friendship of the two fraternal people, as well as to deepening relations of good-neighborliness and strategic partnership between the two countries.
It was emphasized that fruitful state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan in April this year and important arrangements and agreements reached on its results gave a new dynamic to Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan multifaceted cooperation, filling it with concrete content.
During the conversation, the prospects for cooperation in the field of trade, production cooperation, energy, development of efficient transport and transit communications, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres were considered. Views were exchanged on current issues of regional and international agenda.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the warm congratulations and wishes, as well as invited the President of Uzbekistan to take part in the Summit of the Heads of the founder states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, which will be held in the city of Ashgabat in August this year.
Following the conversation, the leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to further developing and strengthening strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for the benefit of the two fraternal countries and people.
The Center of People’s Diplomacy of SCO is being created in Uzbekistan
The Center for People’s Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is being created in Uzbekistan.
The Center is created in accordance with the President’s Decree "On Measures for State Support of the Establishment of the Center for People’s Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan".
The new center in Tashkent will contribute to strengthening of mutual trust and good-neighborliness, inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmonythe development of inter-civilization dialogue among the SCO countries.
The center will take part in expanding cultural and humanitarian ties with the SCO countries and organizing mutual visits of delegations.
The Center of People’s Diplomacy of the SCO will create conditions for establishing a friendly atmosphere of interaction between the institutions of civil society, including youth and women’s organizations of the SCO countries, etc.
The structure will use the tools of people’s diplomacy with a view to bringing the SCO countries and their peoples closer together, strengthening the spirit of mutual trust and good-neighborliness.
The center will be formed in the form of a non-governmental non-profit organization. The founders of the Center are the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the State Committee for the Development of Tourism, the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Arts, the Youth Union, Creative Union of Journalists and the Writers’ Union.

Strategic concept of long-term development is discussed
On June 28, an international forum on “Development Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2035” was held at Inha University in Tashkent.
The event, organized by the international non-governmental non-profit organization “Buyuk kelajak” and the Development Strategy Center, was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, relevant ministries and agencies, international and public organizations, scientific centers, scientists, businessmen, over 60 international experts from almost 20 countries, youth, and compatriots living abroad.
Issues of development of a strategic concept for long-term development of Uzbekistan until 2035 were discussed at the event.

It was emphasized that wide involvement of Uzbek youth studying and working in various countries of the world, to the process of reforming the institutions of public administration, development of social sphere, supporting the investment market reflects the pragmatic policy of Uzbekistan.
At the plenary meetings organized within the framework of the event, problems related to deepening democratic reforms in the system of state and public administration, raising the standard of living and social protection of the population, development of infrastructure of agricultural, industrial spheres, the complex of heat and electricity, and education were discussed.
At the event, issues of determining the main directions for development of the strategic concept of long-term development of Uzbekistan until 2035, intensifying activities of working groups in composition of council members in the areas of economy, public administration and social sphere were also considered. Views were exchanged on development of advanced foreign experience in the areas of finance, innovation, development of small and medium-sized business, science, tourism, and culture.

Shakhrisabz retains its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List
Delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister A.Abdukhakimov attended the 42nd session of the UN World Heritage Committee, in Manama (Bahrain). The issue of excluding the Historical Center of Shakhrisabz from the UNESCO World Heritage List was on the agenda.
The Head of the delegation of Uzbekistan in his speech noted that activity carried out in the Historical Center of Shakhrisabz was aimed at improving the living standards of the local population. Members of the Committee also got acquainted with the adopted decision of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the protection of World Heritage Sites in Uzbekistan", where the roadmap indicating the timing of implementation of recommendations of the World Heritage Committee is indicated.
As reported by the Press Service of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, following the debates between the committee members, it was decided to create a working group on development of an alternative draft decision of the World Heritage Committee, which provides for the preservation of the Historical Center of Shahrisabz in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
