INFRASTRUCTURE

The Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan will allocate $ 50 million for improvement of infrastructure and improvement, as well as construction and reconstruction of various facilities in the capital Tashkent

These funds will be directed to the formation of the financial base of the Foundation for Accomplishment and Welfare Improvement under the Tashkent City Administration. They are planned to be used to solve problems of water supply and sewerage, repair of internal roads of mahallas, construction and strengthening of the material and technical base of social facilities, construction of service houses for social workers and other areas.

It should be noted that a number of major projects, even in Central Asia, are planned in the capital in the next five years. So, for example, a new Sergeli branch of the underground will be built, and Yunusabadskaya will be extended. In addition, around the capital high-speed ring railway will be built. The cost of these projects exceeds $ 500 million.

Downtown Tashkent will also significantly change. Tashkent City, a unique business complex with a total value of over $ 1 billion, will appear here. The high-rise buildings intended for offices, hotels and apartments are planned to be built using modern technology with a height of no more than 40 floors, and residential buildings - no more than 12. There will be conference and exhibition centers, a hypermarket, a large number of retail areas, restaurants and cafes, and parking under the buildings.

In addition, a foreign company SFI Management Group will build a new stadium for the Pakhtakor football club and all related infrastructure. Another private investor, Stargate Systems, has committed to invest over $ 60 million in the creation of a modern high-tech park of culture and recreation in the center of the capital.

XIII INTERNATIONAL UZBEK COTTON AND TEXTILE FAIR

Tashkent hosted the 13th International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair

According to international experts, Uzbekistan has accumulated rich experience in growing organic cotton fiber. More than 1500 specialists, who participated in the fair from different countries, got an opportunity to get acquainted with activities in this direction, defined acceptable standards for them.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan has applied a new strategy in this fair. In particular, a significant part of the exhibits consisted of finished products of textile and light industry enterprises. This testifies to the consistent measures that are being taken in our country on increasing the export of yarn, fabric and finished products with high added value.

The fair provided an opportunity to further expand the circle of partners for a number of industrial enterprises of our country. Among them there is also LLC “Mekhrigiyo Feruz Yulduz” of JSC “Uzbekengilsanoat”. This enterprise, operating in Andijan, produces women’s coats. Exactly half of these products are exported abroad.

A number of presentations were also held during the forum. One of them was devoted to the results of the project on development of sustainable cotton production, carried out in cooperation with JSC “Uzbekengilsanoat”, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, the Federation of Trade Unions, the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank. The project was implemented in pilot mode for introducing a standard system of sustainable cotton growing in farms. Diagnostics of agricultural technologies was carried out. Recommendations have been developed on improving the efficiency of cotton growing and introduction of mechanization.

At the fair, a fashion show of the design center under JSC “Uzbekengilsanoat” was held. “Uztex”, “Samo”, “Ideal”, “Bonita”, “Barchinoy”, “Chust Teks”, “Konteks” enterprises, “Anor Atelier”, “Gigu”, “Sabina Nazar” and other design groups presented their collections.

The 13th International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair once again demonstrated high results of large-scale reforms carried out on the path of further enhancing the economic potential of our country, the growth of well-being of the population. This traditional fair, which has become one of the important events in the world cotton and textile business, will serve to further expand reliable, long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan.

On meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin on 24 October 2017.

Grigory Karasin is in Uzbekistan on a working visit, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The sides exchanged views on key issues of the Uzbek-Russian agenda, including within the framework of multilateral organizations.

The sides noted with satisfaction that the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Russia, held in April 2017 and extensive negotiations at the highest level, opened a new, dynamic phase in interstate relations.

It was noted that the talks of the Presidents of the two countries expanded mutually beneficial relations in the trade-economic and investment fields, allowed to activate direct contacts between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Diplomats of Uzbekistan and Russia discussed issues of a regional and international nature, including the situation in Afghanistan.

On the same day, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry hosted another round of high-level bilateral consultations.

Summit of meteorologists of the CIS in Tashkent

The 29th session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Tashkent.

Close cooperation of the national hydrometeorological services of the CIS countries and their partnership with international organizations helps to take objective decisions based on the most comprehensive information on weather, water and climate.

The Interstate Council on Hydrometeorology contributes to the solution of tasks of timely receipt and use of hydrometeorological information, which is necessary for forecasting hydrometeorological process, their impact on the environment, timely informing and warning of government bodies and the population, effective use in sectors of the economy of the CIS member states.

The session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology was attended by representatives of the national hydrological and meteorological services of the CIS, as well as experts of the World Meteorological Organization.

The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan R.Jurayev and others noted that this event became a good opportunity to discuss actual issues of cooperation between the national hydrometeorological services, improve coordination of observations in the territory of the hydrometeorological network of the CIS countries, exchange the results of scientific research.

Participants of the meeting considered a number of issues and heard reports on activities of the national hydrometeorological services of the CIS countries. In particular, the results of implementation of the Plan of measures on implementation of the Strategy of development of hydrometeorological activities of the CIS member states were presented, technical features of organization of meteorological support for flights of civil aviation were discussed, the latest scientific developments in the sphere of forecasting natural and climatic phenomena were presented. The process of organizing and conducting hydrobiological observations in water bodies, using information about space weather was also discussed.

Following the event, resolutions of the session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the CIS were signed.

Boosting the national film industry

The government of Uzbekistan intends to reorganize JSC Uzbekfilm, as well as the film studio of popular science and documentaries.

These measures are stipulated by the resolution on measures to improve the activity of cinematography facilities of the National Agency Uzbekkino.

The document proposes to reorganize the joint stock company Uzbekfilm and the limited liability company “Film Studio of popular science and documentary films” by transforming them into state unitary enterprises within the framework established by law. The last organization will be renamed the “Documentary Film Studio”. In addition, the government proposes to create a state unitary enterprise “Animated Film Studio” with its placement in the building of the former film processing workshop Uzbekfilm and setting a zero rent rate.

It should be reminded that in the next five years, Uzbekistan intends to significantly increase the volume of film production.

In 2018, the state plans to finance the shooting of 20 full-length motion pictures, and 30 films annually from 2020 on.

Next year, the State Budget will allocate funds for the creation of 20 parts of documentary, popular science, educational and methodical films, film almanacs, newsreels, in 2019 - 25 and from 2020 - 30. The cartoon will not be left aside - in 2018 the state will pay for production 15 cartoons, and from 2022 - 50 annually.

At the same time, it is important that the compulsory creation of short films and children’s humorous newsreels with a total volume of 10 hours, taken by young people, takes place on a separate line.

Under these volumes, the creation of a state-of- the-art film production complex at the operating base of the National Agency Uzbekkino was started in Tashkent.

“Day of the city of Bukhara” festival in Bukhara

A marathon, trade fairs, a competition of national dishes and other various competitions, an exhibition, a scientific and practical conference and a gala concert were organized within the framework of the festival.

The event began with “I love Bukhara” marathon. Performances of folklore groups, a pilaf cooking competition, an exhibition of paintings under “Bukhara – an open-air museum” motto were held in “Toki Sarrofon”, “Toki Zargaron”, “Toki Telpak-Furushon” complexes and the old town part of the ancient and eternally young Bukhara.

The festival, held within the framework of implementation of the resolution of the President of our country “On measures of accelerated development of tourism potential of the city of Bukhara and Bukhara region for 2017-2021” of May 19 this year, was organized in cooperation with the regional khokimiyat, state, non-governmental and public organizations.

Representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in our country and international organizations also attended this festival.

Bukhara attracts tourists from all over the world due to ancient architectural monuments, unique craftsmanship, undying values and traditions.

Master classes of gold embroidery masters, jewelers, embroiderers, carpet manufacturers, blacksmiths, miniature artists, engravers and woodcarvers were held within the framework of the festival.

Bukhara has a special place in Uzbek folklore art. At present, each district and city of the region possesses a peculiar style.

At kurash competition, held within the framework of the festival, more than 100 palvans competed in 8 weight categories, over 10 chefs cooked and treated guests with Bukhara and Andijan pilaf.

Within the framework of the event, scientific and practical conference “Ancient and eternal Bukhara” was held in Bukhara regional music and drama theater named after S.Ayni. At the event, historians and ethnographers talked about the history and traditions of the ancient city, exchanged views on projects aimed at attracting tourists to Bukhara.

Currently, there are more than 120 hotels in Bukhara region. In the course of the festival, “Best hotel”, “Best travel agency” competitions aimed at promoting the quality and culture of serving tourists, were also held.

The festival ended with a gala concert with participation of famous artists and young performers.
