President of Uzbekistan has arrived in Sochi
On October 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the city of Sochi of the Russian Federation to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of the Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Representatives of the official circles of the Russian Federation and the CIS Executive Committee met the President of our country at the international airport of the city of Sochi.
The main events of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of States of the CIS are scheduled for October 11. The agenda of the meeting includes about 20 issues concerning the development of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will also hold a number of bilateral meetings in Sochi.
Memorial sign “The 25th anniversary of Constitution” established in Uzbekistan
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instituted a memorable sign “O‘zbekiston Konstitutsiyasiga 25 yil” (The 25th anniversary of the Constitution of Uzbekistan).
On 10 October, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree “On establishment of a memorable sign “O‘zbekiston Konstitutsiyasiga 25 yil”.
The memorable sign was established in connection with the 25th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and to encourage compatriots, who have made a worthy contribution to strengthening independence, enhancing the country’s economic, political, social, scientific, spiritual potential and defense potential, deepening democratic reforms, etc.
According to the decree of the President, representatives of all spheres, labor veterans, servicemen, law enforcement officers and other persons are awarded with a memorable sign.
Memorable sign can be also awarded to persons, who are not citizens of Uzbekistan, the decree said.
A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council
A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council was held on 10 October 2017 in Sochi (Russia).
The foreign ministers discussed the agenda and draft documents of upcoming meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of States, as well as other issues of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth and exchanged views on international and regional issues.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the CIS will be held on 11 October in Sochi. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the summit of the CIS heads of states.
Uzbekistan and Russia reached an agreement on attracting Russian financing for number of large investment projects in the oil and gas sector by more than $ 3 billion.
Now the parties are working out specific mechanisms for investing a number of joint projects and organizing export financing, as well as insurance of Russian banks through the company EXAR (Russian Agency for Insurance of Export Credits and Investments). Recently, a major forum in this direction was held in Tashkent.
The Russian delegation was headed by Petr Fradkov, Director General of “Russian Export Center” JSC. Representatives of Gazprombank, EXAR and a number of large manufacturers, such as the group “United Machine-Building Plants”, “Power Machines”, United Metallurgical Company, “REP-Holding” and others, also attended the meeting.
Speaking at the forum, the head of the Russian delegation noted the presence of favorable factors for increasing cooperation, especially in the oil and gas industry of the country. According to him, now, according to the signed framework agreement on joint implementation of investment projects in the oil and gas, chemical, mining and metallurgical industries of Uzbekistan, the parties are studying specific issues of participation of Russian financial institutions in them.
Earlier, Uzbekistan, Gazprombank and the Russian Export Center signed a framework agreement on joint implementation of investment projects in the oil and gas, chemical, mining and metallurgical sectors of the country.
In particular, we are talking about the organization of financing from Gazprombank’s project for the creation of synthetic liquid fuel production on the basis of the refined methane of the Shurtan GCC, including financing the export of the air separation unit of the Russian company “Cryogenmash” PJSC.
In addition, the document provides for the financing of Gazprombank’s construction of a plant for the production of sheet metal with a capacity of up to 500 thousand tons per year and the organization of deliveries in 2017-2021 of excavator equipment for the needs of the mining industry of Uzbekistan in an amount not less than 44 units with a total value of at least $155 million.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents credentials to President of Turkey
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Alisher Agzamhodjaev presented his credentials to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During the talks, the Turkish leader noted that Uzbekistan is an important partner of Turkey in Central Asia. Erdogan expressed readiness to lift bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level in all areas of mutual interest.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan underlined importance of the forthcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey. He noted that this visit will give a new impetus to further development of the Uzbek-Turkish political dialogue, expansion of cooperation between the two countries in trade-economic, investment, financial-technical and other spheres.
Uzbekistan to take part in meeting of SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group
A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan will attend a meeting of the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group.
The meeting of the Contact Group “SCO – Afghanistan” will be held on 11 October 2017 in Moscow (Russia).
The participants of the meeting will exchange views on current situation in Afghanistan and discuss ways of Afghan settlement, as well as establishment of cooperation between the SCO and Afghanistan.
SCO – Afghanistan Contact group was established in 2015 in accordance with the decision of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states.
The format was created to coordinate efforts in combating terrorism, separatism, extremism and drug trafficking, launching a consultative process between the SCO and Afghanistan, connecting the Organization to development and implementation of international programs to assist Afghanistan in order to stabilize the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in the country.
Uzbekistan: Interethnic harmony – factor of prosperity
On October 6, the delegation led by the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the UN Human Rights Council A.Shaheed visited Fergana region.
The delegation met with the khokim of Fergana region Sh.Ganiyev. Information on the ongoing work in the field of strengthening interethnic harmony and religious tolerance was provided at the meeting.
Currently, there are 7 national cultural centers in Fergana region. Representatives of all nationalities are given equal opportunities for preserving and developing their language, traditions, customs, values. Navruz, Sabantuy, Maslenitsa, Tano and other national holidays are widely celebrated with participation of representatives of different nationalities. Events, organized in makhallas, cultural and educational institutions, serve as an important factor in strengthening interethnic harmony and cohesion.
A friendship festival that is traditionally held under “Uzbekistan – our common home” motto, is also of great importance in development of culture and traditions, upbringing feelings of respect for national and universal values in the minds and hearts of youth.
The guests were greatly impressed by conditions created in the national cultural center of Fergana.
The delegation led by Ahmed Shaheed met with representatives of the regional national cultural centers and religious confessions. At the meeting, the achievements of the national cultural centers, the importance of activities on strengthening friendship and mutual respect, effective activity of religious confessions were emphasized.
Representatives of the UN Human Rights Council in Bukhara
The delegation led by the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the UN Human Rights Council Ahmed Shaheed visited Bukhara region.
The guests visited the architectural complex of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi – the founder of the famous Naqshbandiyya teachings in the Islamic world.
The Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the UN Human Rights Council had a conversation here with a group of imam-khatibs of the region. It was noted that Islam is a religion of peace and humanism. Various extremist movements in different regions of the world are trying to contribute to the formation of the notion of our sacred religion as a factor of violence, among the world community. The purpose of these ideological attacks is primarily the immature consciousness and mind of youth. In our country, a wide explanatory and educational activity aimed at combating ignorance through education is being held.
Members of the delegation led by A. Shaheed met with the khokim of Bukhara region U.Barnoyev. The guests were told about the ongoing work on ensuring the constitutional rights and legitimate interests of citizens, the important role in this process of people’s receptions operating in the regions, districts and cities. Representatives of an authoritative international organization received answers to their questions.
The guests also visited the ancient Kalyan Mosque.
There are three religious educational institutions in Bukhara region – the high madrasah Mir Arab, the secondary special educational institution Mir Arab and the women’s secondary specialized Islamic educational institution Juybori Kalon.
The Special Rapporteur of the UN and members of the delegation visited the Mir Arab special secondary educational institution and the women’s specialized secondary Islamic educational institution Juybori Kalon, met with students and teachers.
Today there are 117 religious organizations of 7 confessions in the region. Synagogue is among them.
Within the framework of the visit, the guests visited the citizens’ gathering of makhalla named after Akhmad Donish in Bukhara. Representatives of seven nationalities live here in peace and harmony. They together solve socio-economic issues of their makhalla, take responsibility for the education of youth.
Members of the delegation led by A.Shaheed received answers to all their questions from the makhalla activists, representatives of the national cultural centers.
